Sabrina Guidicipietro-Varona

Licensed Associate Counselor

Hi, I’m Sabrina! I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey with over 20 years of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families across both behavioral health and mental health settings.

My path into counseling began through my work as a behavior therapist, where I spent many years working hands-on with neurodivergent individuals and families in homes, schools, and community environments. Those experiences deeply shaped my understanding of how behavior, emotions, environment, and relationships are all connected and ultimately led me to pursue mental health counseling so I could support the whole person, not just what is seen on the surface.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with individuals navigating autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, and major life transitions. I am trauma-informed and certified in crisis and children impacted by trauma.

I have a strong passion for supporting children and adolescents navigating trauma, as well as adults who may still be carrying the effects of earlier experiences. I have also supported parents and caregivers by offering guidance, education, and collaborative strategies that can be applied outside of session.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and strength-based. I believe therapy should feel safe, steady, and respectful, especially for those who may have felt misunderstood or overwhelmed in other spaces. I draw from both behavioral and mental health frameworks, including cognitive and skills-based strategies, while always tailoring care to each client’s unique needs, goals, and lived experience. Together, we focus on building insight, developing practical coping tools, and creating meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that feels manageable.

I am especially passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals, helping clients better understand themselves, build emotional awareness, and navigate anxiety, overwhelm, and relationships in ways that honor who they are. I value authenticity and connection, and I strive to meet clients exactly where they are, working alongside them as they grow in confidence, regulation, and self-understanding.

Above all, I believe that therapy is not about “fixing,” but about supporting, empowering, and walking with clients as they move through challenges and build lives that feel more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.
