Allison Peters

Licensed Professional Counselor

Hi I’m Allison! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, an ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider, and a Disaster Response Crisis Counselor. I have 10 years experience in the mental health field and became a licensed therapist in 2019. I’ve gained experience across a variety of clinical settings including partial care, outpatient, domestic violence shelters, and virtual therapy, all of which have allowed me to support clients from many different walks of life.

I’m trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) through the CARES Institute at Rowan University, which has deepened my work supporting survivors of childhood trauma. Most recently, I became certified as an ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), where I help clients learn to work with — rather than against — their unique strengths while building realistic tools for focus, organization, emotional regulation, and self-compassion. I’m also a certified Disaster Response Crisis Counselor (DRCC) and volunteer my time supporting communities impacted by disasters through crisis intervention, emotional support, and connection to resources.

A large part of my clinical background has centered around working with survivors of trauma, particularly childhood abuse and sexual abuse. I also genuinely enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, panic, ADHD, life transitions, relationship stress, college stress, self-esteem challenges, and developing healthier boundaries and assertiveness skills. My approach to therapy is eclectic, collaborative, and personalized. I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all, so I tailor sessions to meet each client’s individual needs, goals, and personality. Clients often describe me as warm, energetic, and humorous, while still creating a meaningful therapeutic space. I pull from a variety of approaches including CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, mindful, somatic techniques, inner child work, and trauma-informed, strengths-based care. I’m especially passionate about virtual therapy because I believe it helps make mental health support more accessible while reducing barriers that can prevent people from getting the care they deserve.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through swimming and biking, spending time with my dogs, and I’m always excited to discover a new coffee shop!

I don’t believe you need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If any of this resonates with you, I encourage you to reach out so we can explore whether we’re a good fit and begin working toward your vision of a better quality of life.
