Living More Authentically: A Group for Autistic Young Adults Diagnosed Later in Life
Learning that you’re autistic later in life can bring a lot of different feelings and realizations. There may be validation in finally having an explanation for experiences you’ve had for years, while also looking back and wondering how things may have been different if you had understood yourself sooner.
We created Living More Authentically to give autistic young adults ages 18 to 30 a space to explore what comes after receiving that understanding of yourself.
Throughout the group, we’ll talk about experiences such as identity, masking, sensory needs, relationships, burnout, executive functioning, and self advocacy. Just as importantly, the group offers an opportunity to connect with other autistic young adults who may relate to experiences that can sometimes be difficult to explain to others.
At Sweet Bliss, we believe autism support should not be about teaching someone to become less autistic or better at hiding parts of themselves. This group is about developing a greater understanding of yourself, recognizing what you need, and finding ways to live more authentically.
Whether your diagnosis brought relief, questions, grief, validation, or a mixture of everything, you don’t have to have it all figured out before joining.
