Depression Support
Depression doesn’t always look like crying or feeling sad. Sometimes it looks like going through the motions, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, feeling exhausted no matter how much you rest, withdrawing from people, struggling to get started, or wondering why everything feels so difficult. You may even appear completely fine to everyone around you while privately feeling disconnected from yourself.
What can depression look like?
Depression can affect your mood, motivation, energy, concentration, sleep, appetite, relationships, self esteem, and interest in everyday life.
You may feel sad, numb, irritable, hopeless, disconnected, exhausted, or simply unlike yourself. For some people, depression makes even basic responsibilities feel much harder than they normally would.
How can therapy help with depression?
Therapy can help you better understand what you’re experiencing and begin identifying small, realistic ways to create change.
Depending on your needs, this might involve understanding patterns of thinking, reconnecting with meaningful activities or relationships, developing coping strategies, working through difficult experiences, improving emotional awareness, addressing self criticism, or exploring factors that may be contributing to how you feel.
What if I don't have the motivation to make changes?
That can be part of depression itself.
We don’t expect you to walk into therapy already motivated, hopeful, or knowing exactly what you want to change. Sometimes therapy begins with simply understanding where you are right now.
Your therapist can work with you to identify manageable steps rather than expecting you to change everything at once.
Can depression occur alongside other concerns?
Yes. Depression can occur alongside anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, chronic stress, and other experiences.
We look at the whole picture rather than automatically assuming that every symptom comes from one diagnosis.
What approaches do you use for depression?
Treatment may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, strengths based therapy, mindfulness based techniques, Motivational Interviewing, behavioral strategies, integrative approaches, trauma informed care, and other therapeutic interventions based on your individual needs.
